Farm News

December 31, 2009

Rainbow Harvest Farm had a very busy 2009 season. All of the rain made for a short lived first crop of strawberries but fortunately they produced 3 more times, so for those who missed out in early June, we were able to provide strawberries through October.

Our listing in Southern Living magazine (July 2009) caused quite a flurry after it's release in late June. It was good to meet and talk to people from all over Kentucky.  It seems that there are a lot of people who have the "blues" for blueberries.

For those who love blackberries we had a bumper crop of our "Triple Crown" variety. The berries were large, sweet and juicy. No order was too big for us!

As for the raspberries, they did not like wet feet and several months of rain made for some unhappy feet. We were able to replant 200 new bushes for all of our raspberry lovers out there.....cross your fingers for a good 2010 crop.

Last but not least....this year we were proud to have parternered with C.A.P. Christian Appalachain Project. One of the many projects CAP has is their fall greenery catalog. Profits from this project go directly back to programs to help the people of Applachia. This year CAP expanded their catalog to include products grown and made in this region and we are honored to have been chosen for their holiday catalog that was issued in September. Three of our jams, Strawberries Galore, Blue Bliss and Blackberry Delight were featured in a gift box set. The holiday catalog was such a sucess that we were invited to be in CAP's spring catalog that will be issued in March 2010.

As always "Look For The Rainbow"
